![]() That's more likely the reason for no pork than the chef.Īnd why do you assume South Philly Italian is any more appealing? Philly is full of amazing Italian restaurants but most of them are not in South Philly nor would I associate modern Italian food with South Philly. PHL has one of the highest Jewish populations in America. Of course, that might make the lounge even more crowded. I guarantee you that if AMEX hired an accomplished South Philly modern Italian chef, customer satisfaction would soar (currently 3 1/2 stars on yelp). I think my analogy to AMEX hirting a Puerto Rican chef to do the menu is accurate. But my main issue is not that the food is bad, but that it is repetitive from a very limited and illogical (for Philly) style band. Like I have NEVER had a good soup in the Philly lounge and it is often pretty bad. I think that if you travelled around and visited the other Centurion lounges, you would decide that it is below average. It is obvious that many people like the Centurion food in Philly. I personally will be shocked if I ever see pork in the Centurion Lounge where Solomnov is "in charge" of the food, but who knows. ![]() PS I'm actually typing this while eating delicious hummus from Solomnov's DizengoffI personally will be shocked if I ever see pork in the Centurion Lounge where Solomnov is "in charge" of the food, but who knows. Solomnov's restaurants are actually not Kosher food so I'm not sure if he's the reason there's no pork sausage. PS I'm actually typing this while eating delicious hummus from Solomnov's Dizengoff He's a Philly chef, not like someone contracted from Israel to serve a PHL lounge. That said, I love the food at the PHL lounge. We'll see.Solomnov's restaurants are actually not Kosher food so I'm not sure if he's the reason there's no pork sausage. Maybe the new restrictions on getting "free" Centurion cards will ease the congestion next year. I'm guessing that's going to happen someday, right? We'd also be better off if they got a bigger space, but I don't think that's going to happen. We would be so much better off in PHL if they ditched Solomonov and diversified the menu. The LAS food was at least 2x as good as the PHL food though. The PHL breakfast food was OK: they added turkey sausage to the menu (I'm guessing we'll never get any pork products in PHL as long as its Israeli-themed!). The food, drink, design, and aesthetics of the lounge are wonderful and make for a very comfortable and productive environment.I received a Christmas gift at the LAS lounge this week (a cell phone charger stick) but nothing during my PHL visit. The Centurion Lounge easily beats any lounge offered by US-based airlines and arguably, even some international carriers. Philadelphia is notorious for having some pretty subpar lounges. ![]() This is great as there are quite a few Centurion Lounge customers that love to make business calls in the middle of the lounge.Īmerican Express’s new Centurion Lounge in Philadelphia is a fantastic, much-welcomed additional to Amex’s network of lounges. The Centurion Lounge Philadelphia is located in Terminal A near gate A14. The Centurion Lounge Philadelphia is hands down the best lounge at the airport. I decided to wake up early on a Saturday and head over to the recently opened Centurion Lounge in Philadelphia. To address this issue, American Express announced last year that they would expand their lounge network to Philadelphia and Hong Kong. However, one issue for the Centurion Lounge network had always been limited locations. With amenities including free spa treatments, expansive hot food options, and free drinks, Centurion Lounges are a phenomenal perk of the American Express Platinum and Centurion cards.
